You no longer need to dig your iPhone out of your pack to see where you are at on a Topo Map, you can just look down at your Apple Watch. Topo Maps+ works beautifully with the new Apple Watch. All of the maps that you download for offline use in Topo Maps+ are available for offline use in Topo Maps+ on the Apple Watch.
Topo Maps+ on the Apple Watch will follow along with Topo Maps+ on your iPhone. This lets you use your iPhone to get the map positioned. You can then use the arrows that overlay the map to scroll the map side to side and up and down. You can also digital crown to zoom the map in and out.
If you tap on the green location button in the lower right it will show you your current location on the map.
From the map if you swipe to the left you can control recording a track. This will record the GPS coordinates for your hike on the map.
You can force press on the map to bring up the menu.
When you select map from the menu, you have the option to change to a different map type.
From the menu If you tap on the Add Waypoint button it will add a waypoint at your current location. When you add a waypoint you have the option to change it’s icon.
When you tap on the data icon you can access your routes, tracks, waypoints, and tags. This will let you change the position on the map to view another route or waypoint. This menu will remember it’s last position so you can easily jump between different data points.
